I am really enjoying homeschooling this year. I decided to relax quite a bit, and we are all doing better. I tossed the strict schedule, and I am allowing the kids to have lots more input into their studies.
I can't imagine sending the kids to school. They have been home for 8 yrs. I find so much about traditional schooling to be ridiculous. Necessary, given that they have the number of students they have and that there is such diversity in situations, learning styles, and background, but ridiculous if the goal is to provide the best experience for a child.
The best is clearly a one on one instruction setting with materials and a teaching style that conforms to a child's specific needs. A safe environment, with a teacher that is truly invested in them.
I can't imagine giving them anything else when it's in power to give them the best.
